What does kosher mean?
Kosher means fit for ritual use as in “that’s not quite kosher.” It can refer to the preparation or status of food, but also to behavior.
Is kosher food blessed by rabbis?
No. Traditional Jews say blessings before and after eating or drinking (and after using the bathroom!). In order to be kosher, food needs to have been produced under the supervision of specialists of kosher laws who are sometimes rabbis.
